As the Dean of this unique faculty, I warmly welcome you to the Faculty of Educational Studies (FES). We are excited to have you visit our website. The FES is the first of its kind in the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. It is one of the four faculties in the College of Art and Built Environment of KNUST, and it has two department: Department of Educational Innovation in Science and Technology, and the Department of Teacher Education. The faculty is also in charge of mentoring five Colleges of Education affiliated to KNUST.
The faculty aims to become a Centre of Excellence in STEM education in Africa by partnering both local and international institutions, and conducting cutting edge researches that would result in the development of home-grown pedagogies and resources to enhance the teaching and learning of science, technology and mathematics across various levels of Ghana’s education system. Advancement and dissemination of knowledge in STEM education to influence policy and practice is our goal. The faculty focuses on training teachers who have the requisite competencies and are committed, inspirational and lifelong learners.
The FES offers a variety of programmes from undergraduate to master's and doctoral levels to cater for the academic and professional needs of in-service teachers and student teachers. These programmes are tailored to meet the needs of professional teachers/lecturers seeking continuous professional development, teachers/lecturers seeking to get a professional degree or diploma, and students seeking to be trained as professional teachers. As one of the youngest faculties of KNUST, we are home to professional, qualified, great and innovated minds who are championing teacher education reforms In Ghana.
We are also supported by renowned professors, senior lecturers, and lecturers of specialized areas in KNUST who service the faculty in handling various courses and lead postgraduate research in the departments.
